‘89 Camry. 256,000 miles and no reason to think that these were not the original mounts.

those muffler bearings are so rusty. Glad you changed them out.

Fill em with poly and put them back in.
Hope you bought OEM or better mounts. Since I changed out my OEMs I’ve gone through mounts every couple months until I bought a set and filled them with poly before installing.

I had to go to O’Reilly and rent a left-handed bearing wrench though.

Did did this on our Dodge Caravan a couple months ago could not believe the difference it made. Most noticeable during decelerating and shifting I’ve heard bad things about AutoZone type mounts but I knew it was going to be sold soon so didn’t go spend the extra couple bucks now I wonder how long they will last. Definitely not calling the new owner to find out LOL.

Did you pack the new muffler bearings with blinker fluid tho?

Takes
years
off a car. Strictly OEM, if available, but probably not if I’m selling soon...

No, but the old bearings were held up with shore line and it was good to be able to get rid of that, but I also picked up a can of compression when I was at O’Reilly.

I would seriously suggest getting a tube of urethane and filling them. I used this on mine with great results:

Beats replacing them again in a few months......
That’s the luck I’ve had with aftermarkets thus far. If I get 3 months out of them, they had a good run. Literally had one mount tear the first time I put my van in gear.

Well... I wish we’d had this talk before I installed the parts... I’d certainly be down to give it a try.

Hopefully your luck is better than mine. If not, you’ll have a chance to try it in a couple months........

One of the Oppos is telling me I should have packed the mounts with silicone and I think that’s a grand idea, except that they are already installed. Not difficult to install at all, but I’m not going to take them back out now. We’ll see how they roll. OEM is not available any more for the ‘89 Camry.

Yeah. I’ve thought of that. They weren’t very expensive. In a month or several, I’ll be dropping the transmission in order to do some resealing and when I do, I’ll examine the new mounts and see how they’re holding up. I’m not sure how well silicone will stick once the mounts have been in there any amount of time.

Clean them up well, scuff them some, then pump them full, should hold fine.

I will plan on doing that. Ordinary clear si

3M Window Weld.
It’s a black urethane that dries almost solid. Figure on a few days for it to cure before installing them into the car.

Won’t that make the mount a good deal harsher?

It makes it more direct, but the urethane has enough give to soak up engine vibration, so its not super noticeable.
The only time I really notice my solid mounts are when putting it in gear, simply because the engine cannot jump as it would with OEM mounts.
